Darkness Falls
The primordial darkness is stirring. Something within the Material Plane is calling it to consume all of creation, and heroes must rise to silence that call. But they can't do it alone! Sent on their quest by the gods, the party will need help from beyond their mortal abilities to fulfill their mission.
How can you help?
In this special event, you, the viewer, get to directly manipulate the events of the story by playing the gods themselves! As a thanks for your donations to Children's Miracle Network hospitals (see "What Is Extra Life?" below), you will be rewarded with powers you can manifest in the game to either help the heroes or stifle their progress. See the tables for a full breakdown on what you can add to the game through your donations:
Additional Options
On the Extra Life page, you can find a couple game-specific incentives that aren't on this chart.
Hungry Dark Sponsor
With a $500 donation, you become a sponsor of the event! As a thank you for such a large donation, you get all the benefits of being a Divine Patron, PLUS included in credits and shoutouts throughout The Hungry Dark!
Dealer's Choice
Donate $10, $20, $50, or $100 and give the Oracle carte blanche to impact the game! She will pick an effect with a value up to the donation amount and add that effect to the game at a time of her choosing. Store up a bank of possible changes to the campaign, and wait to see how they get used!
How does this work?
On November 2 & 3, 2024, we will go live on our Twitch channel for 24 hours of D&D 3.5, working through the plot of The Hungry Dark. This will be done as two 12-hour days, from 9 am to 9 pm each day. For the duration of those two days, the above-listed donation rewards will be available on each of our fundraising pages. Simply choose the donation reward you want to activate, choose the name you want to be announced as the source of the activated power, and make your donation!
Any donation incentives claimed before the game begins will be added to a list and accessed at a time chosen by the Oracle (for general effects) or the player (for effects assigned to a specific character).

Important Info
-Players cannot apply single-character rewards to their own character.
-Bonuses, Spell Points, and Salient Divine Abilities are applied to one character for each activation. -If a donation for Bonus, Spell Point, or Salient Divine Abilities is made on a player's fundraising page, it will automatically apply to that player's character. -Donations made on the GM's page can be applied to anyone, including NPCs; simply note who you want to receive the benefit. |
-Bonuses may only be applied once to each character per scene.
-Spell Point increases last until the characters take a long rest; they do not go away when the party gains the benefit of a long rest as a donation reward. -If you choose to cast a spell, you may cast any spell of the stated level and aim it at any square in the scene. It will then have its standard effect and duration. -Random encounters cannot exceed party level plus 5. |
Lexicon
Divine Avatar: A divine avatar is a form the deity uses to manifest in the Material Plane. It is physical, and therefore can be hurt and killed, but holds immense power. These avatars will have stat blocks that come from their entries in the D&D 3.5 source book, Deities and Demigods. These are a high-level reward because they massively disrupt the nature and balance of the game and are a significant investment on the part of the gods.
Divine Patron: By making a one-time donation of $300, your reward will be a more direct and consistent involvement in the game! You get to take on the mantle of one of the setting's gods or god-like beings (such as a Warlock's patron), speaking to the characters in game through chat and answering prayers from the party (or their enemies). Divine Patrons may take one action from the charts above per scene without making an additional donation. This excludes granting a level or Salient Divine Abilities as well as sending Divine Avatars, as these must always require a direct and intentional investment by the entity.
Salient Divine Ability: These are special feat-like abilities originating from the Deities and Demigods source book. They are the purview of the divine, and most of them break some rule of the game in a significant way. They are not to be applied lightly, and since they do not expire, granting them to mortals should be viewed as a major investment in that character. The player reserves the right to choose and apply that Salient Divine Ability which best suits their character.
Spell Points: This is a homebrew system change that converts spell slots to spell points. Each slot is worth its level in points; a first-level spell slot becomes 1 spell point, a third-level spell slot becomes 3 spell points, etc. Spells of each level cost an amount of spell points equal to their level to cast. This allows spellcasters to be more flexible in which level spells they cast, and gives them only one pool of spell energy to track instead of tracking slots for each level individually. The donation rewards directly increase the number of spell points a character has available.

Setting
The Hungry Dark takes place on Khadaka, a world in which the gods created each species with a specific purpose; while elves commune with the wild lands and dwarves patrol the underdark, humans have been created as the arbiters of fate. But the theft of divine power in the form of magic has turned many of the gods against the mortal races, and now the various cultures of the material plane seek their own ways to appease or manipulate the forces of nature arrayed against them.

What is Extra Life?
Extra Life is a fundraiser under the authority of the Children's Miracle Network. Each participant raises money for a specific CMN hospital, usually the one closest to them geographically. All money raised through Extra Life goes to the named hospital; overhead costs and participant rewards are covered through a different system, and the participants do not receive a cut of funds raised. This money goes toward providing treatment at the hospital, purchasing needed supplies and devices, and adding entertainment to help the kids play and take some comfort during what is often one of the most frightening and isolating times in their lives. Your donation directly impacts the health and well-being of children served by the hospital!
You can help by donating to any of our pages found under the Roster tab of the team page listed above; you can also help by fundraising for your local hospital! The top left corner of the team page will have an option to sign up and create your own fundraising page. You can choose to join a team (including ours), create your own, or go without a team for as long as you wish. Money paid to sign up with Platinum goes to overhead costs and participant rewards and will not show up as a donation on your page. Pages and teams must be renewed each calendar year. Once your page is set up, share it with your friends and family and start planning your Game Day event!
